Obituary for George Edward Thiel
George Edward Thiel age 81 of Murdock passed away Saturday, September 15th, 2018 in Syracuse NE.
He was born August 2, 1937 to Albert Joseph and Mary (Tower) Thiel.
George was graduate of Murdock High School Class of 1955 he joined the US Air Force soon after. He was employed with Western Electric/AT&T Lucent Technologies as a machine operator. He became a licensed cosmologist in 1979 operating a shop in his home until 1999. George was organist at St Mary Magdalene in Omaha from 1975-1980 then St Patrick's in Manley until failing health prevented him. In the mid 1980's George began working for Colbert Funeral Home as service help, and he continued even through name and ownership changes. During the 2000's he worked funerals for two funeral providers, one of them being Hammons Family. In 2011 he was awarded the Good Neighbor Award. He was preceded in death by
his parents, a sister Mary and a brother Albert Thiel.
Survivors include four sisters, Rose Towle of Murdock; Margaret Cline of Aurora CO; Joyce (Larry) Carnicle of Murdock; Chris (Rollie) Hill of Indiana; Sister-in-law Jean Thiel of Murdock;
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Rosary service 10:00 am with a Memorial Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:45 am Thursday, September 20th, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, inurnment Cemetery in Elmwood NE.
A Visitation will be Wednesday 1-7 pm.at Hammons Family Funeral Chapel Weeping Water
