Obituary for Valda Marie Bornemeier (Gerhard)

Valda (Gerhard ) Bornemeier age 99 , of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, May 31st, 2018
She was the youngest of four daughter born to Clarence and Lucy Gerhard at Eagle NE on May 27, 1919. She grew up on the farm, along with sisters Esther (Orris) Lanning, Vesta (Arthur) Bivens and Wilma (Clarence) Braatz all who have preceded her in death.
She attended school in Eagle graduating the Class of 1936. That year her parents moved to Murdock, NE and it as there she met her future husband Chester "Chet" Bornemeier. They were married on February 12, 1941 at the United Methodist Church in Elmwood. Two Children blessed their home; Diane (Jim) Parker of Kenesaw NE and Joel of Elmwood. They were together until his death after 54 years of marriage.
They enjoyed a busy life of community activities, traveled extensively enjoyed the many school activities and church activities of their children and grandchildren. Holidays were always celebrated with siblings and families either in Nebraska or Wisconsin.
On retirement from the farm they built a home in Elmwood and moved into it in August of 1985. After her husbands death in 1995 she moved to the legacy Estates in Lincoln in Sept. 2003.
Both she and her husband were lifetime members of the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation and both served on the board for many years. Valda was the Receptionist for thirty years in the Medical Clinic of Dr. Liston and Dr. Knosp in Elmwood.
preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three Sisters and their spouses and a nephew Jerry Lanning.

Three Grandsons Brent (Diane) Parker; Brad (Amy) Parker and Bryce (Laurie) Paker
Three Granddaughters Mollie Debrie; Mandy (Kyle) Rohrig; Katie (Marcus) Bender
Ten Great Grandchildren and Three Great Great Grandsons.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 8th, 2018 at 10:30 am in St Pauls' United Methodist Church 400 West G Street Elmwood, NE interment in Elmwood Cemetery Elmwood NE
Visitation 5-7 pm Thursday June 7 at Hammons Family Funeral Chapel Elmwood
Donations can be made to the church or Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation.
