Harvey (Sonny) Grant Schulz, was born on September 29, 1935, to Harvey and Eva (Smart) Schulz in Crescent, IA. He was raised in and around Valley, Springfield, Yutan, and Mead, NE. He graduated from Mead High School in 1954.
Harvey married Mary Ann Jensen, August 25, 1956, and were blessed with five children. Harvey pursued many interests and hobbies with his main occupations being farming, welding, and carpentry. He loved playing/watching basketball, farming, playing cards, bowling, picture taking, gardening, raising hogs, tractor pulls, family drives, and spending time with his family.
Together, both Harvey and Mary Ann, gave their hearts over to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and entered into a personal relationship of hope for eternity. He was actively involved in the churches that they attended as an usher, deacon, Sunday school teacher, church bus driver, and overall handyman when needed.
He never knew a stranger and was always there to help when someone had a need.
Harvey will be best remembered for his avid love for basketball, tilling the land, sense of humor, hard work ethic, the many sacrifices made to provide and take care of his family, his easy going way, and his parting words, “You kids be good now”.
Preceding him in death were his parents Harvey & Eva Schulz; wife Mary Ann Schulz; two sisters Kathrine Mary Parson-Hudson, Juanita Boyer; grandson Thomas Huckabay. He is survived by his children Debra Albaugh of Plano, TX; Diane (Gary) Petersen, Louisville, NE; Shirley (David) Sileven, Van Alstyne, TX; Peggy (Bruce) Pratt of Elmwood, NE; John (Penny Plock) Schulz of York, NE; thirteen grandchildren & seven great grandchildren from Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Nebraska, & Texas.
