Hugh Eugene Spaulding, 80 of Elmwood, passed away at home July 24, 2017.He was born September 2, 1936 to James and Dorothy (Wilbur) Spaulding in Wakefield, Rhode Island. He grew up in Weare, New Hampshire and came to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1954 with the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country for four years.
Hugh married Jean Bornemeier of Elmwood, June 1. 1957 and had four sons. Hugh pursued many interests and hobbies with his main occupations being carpentry and farming. He spent many years being active in Boy Scouting and the Elmwood Volunteer Fire Department. Hugh enjoyed helping family, friends, and neighbors with anything. He especially loved all the grandkids spending time at the farm, taking them fishing, teasing and just having lots of fun!
He was a member of the Elmwood St. Paul United Methodist Church. Hugh will be lovingly remembered and missed by his surviviors, Jeanie his wife of 60 years, his sons and their wives, Jim and Jane of Omaha, Dan and Tracy of Elmwood, Rick of Unadilla, and Tom and Tammy of Eagle: Eight grandchildren Corey (wife Ashley), Elli (husband Mitch) Lamprecht, Beau, Andy, Jake, Abby, Jessie and Ben, two great grandsons, Rion and Aron, and many other family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers Amos and Whitney, parents-in-law Bob and Jeannette Bornemeier.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
